Ben Aaronovitch
Ben Dylan Aaronovitch (born 22 February 1964, Camden, London) is a celebrated British author and screenwriter. Starting with writing episodes for Doctor Who (Remembrance of the Daleks, Battlefield), he later scripted for shows like Casualty and Jupiter Moon. His breakthrough came while working at Waterstones, where he conceived the Rivers of London urban fantasy series, featuring PC and apprentice wizard Peter Grant.
Since its debut in 2011 (Rivers of London, also known in the US as Midnight Riot), the series has expanded to over a dozen novels and novellas—many reaching bestseller status and spawning comics, audio dramas, and an upcoming TV adaptation. Aaronovitch is also a vocal advocate for diversity in genre fiction, founding the Future Worlds Prize to uplift BAME writers.
He lives in Wimbledon and remains active in writing and media production, with Rivers of London being adapted by Pure Fiction Television, See-Saw Films, and his own Unnecessary Logo company.
